Autumn Fashion Staple Pieces
Autumn’s here and although not yet freezing cold, its chilly enough to update the wardrobe with some knits, boots and jackets!
I have a few staple pieces in my wardrobe that I re-buy / update every year and also some individual items that are so classic I’ve been wearing for years! This post covers what I consider to be a few staple autumn wardrobe pieces.
Bold Colours and Prints
I love mixing bold, bright vibrant colours with tan/nudes in autumn. I’m not talking yellows and neon but more slightly moody colours such as olive burnt orange, scarlet red, browns….
As its still quite mild outside, you can still get away with a long sleeve dress and boots. I love this look as it’s casual but still smart and versatile to wear regardless of your plans or time of day.
The outfit below I put together for a night out recently, although ended up buying something new and wore that instead (hence no pics of me wearing it!) I will definitely wear this complete outfit before winter though. Can also replace the caged heels with over the knee boots as pictured below.
Casual Dresses Teamed With Boots
Floaty / loose fitting dresses are comfortable and so easy to wear. They can be dressed up or down and look fab for autumn when teamed with ankle boots or tall boots with a flash of bare thigh!

Tunic Dress: ASOS ~ This is from the tall collection, but shorter ladies could still wear this with ankle boots for a cute daytime look
I recently wrote a post about some of the boots I’m swooning over here. But as tall boots are a staple item for anyone’s autumn wardrobe, some alternative styles had to be featured on this list. Whether they be over the knee, knee high or thigh high. Tall boots really are a necessity!

Oversize Nude/Tan Clutch
An oversized tan/nude clutch is one of the most versatile items you could ever own. The oversized clutch bags tend to be large enough to hold all of a girls essentials (not just your lipgloss and keys!) They go with literally everything in the wardrobe! Can be dressed up for evening or dressed all the way down to festival fashion. I own a ton of clutch bags but my go-to ones are always the tan/nude coloured ones as they are so versatile.
Nude Clutch: ASOS
Tan Clutch Bag: Chi Chi
Nude/Tan Clutch: Marni
As much as I love love love tall boots, it would be rude to leave out the baby sister of the over the knee – the ankle boot! Easy to wear, can make any outfit look cute or edgy and far easier to put on than longer boots (especially those with no zips!) Here are a few of my faves!
Cognac and Black Ankle Boots: Aldo
Black Fringe Ankle Boots: ASOS
Chestnut Brown Ankle Boots with Fur: UGGS

Suede or Leather Jacket
No autumn outfit would be complete without a short leather or suede jacket. Both leather and suede looks fab with just about anything, from throwing one over an old jumper and jeans to teaming with a couture bodycon dress.
It’s a good idea to invest in at least one good quality leather or suede jacket as if you look after it, it will last you a lifetime. Also a good quality jacket will make any outfit pop even on your scruffiest days! Here I’ve set out a mixture for all budgets.
