When in Rome…….

residenza napoleone III Rome

The Best Surprise Ever!

My trip to Rome was actually a surprise.  I was told I was being taken away on a surprise little trip to a place I’d not been before; to pack for five days and bring a passport!  EEEkkk…. I was over excited!

Once we got to the airport and it was made clear where I was going, I was over the moon.  This was my first trip to Italy and Rome was a place I had always wanted to visit as I knew it was a special and romantic place.  However I didn’t realise quite how special until I arrived at our accommodation; Residenza Napoleone.

Crisp Air, Red Wine, Roaring Fireplaces ~ Cliveden House is Like a Big Hug

As soon as the car tyres crunched into the driveway gravel leading up to to the grounds of Cliveden House, I felt butterflies in my tummy!  I knew I was in for something truly special and I wasn’t wrong. Cliveden House is set in the beautiful English countryside in Berkshire and is surrounded by 376 acres of stunning National Trust listed gardens.  The surroundings of Cliveden House are like something from a fairytale.  The views over the River Thames and onsite parklands are incredible.  It’s no wonder this is one of the finest luxury hotels in the UK. Speedboats: Top 7 Tips To Avoid Stepping Aboard A Glamourpuss & Stepping Off A Sourpuss!

yacht-bahamas-speedboat

Travelling by speedboat is most of the time good fun!  Its thrilling, exciting and exhilarating.  But in my experience, those words could only be used to describe smaller speedboats that you hire yourself on holiday, or perhaps as part of a tour that you may have organised.  The speedboat journey’s I’m referring to here are private transfers on which you are sat for no less than an hour and half – pedal to the metal, covering around 100 miles at 90mph!

Holiday Blues!

I’ve been back from Sicily six days and even now the holiday blues are hard to completely shake off.  What a beautiful place.  Full of culture, history, charm, incredible architecture and of course great food and wine 😉

We spent ten days there hopping around which is the best way in my opinion. We managed to squeeze in six spots including two of the Aeolian islands, a stunning hidden gem which for some reason only few people know about.  I share my experience in Sicily here in this post if you’d like to read more ~ Sicilian Adventure

Magical Mustique Island

Breathtaking

The first moment I stepped onto this beautiful island of pure white sand and turquoise waters, I knew that out of the 20 or so islands I’ve visited so far in my lifetime, this one was going to be a tough one to beat.

Mustique is a private paradise frequented by many celebrities and royalty alike (Wills and Kate apparently stayed in our villa and Beyonce and Jay Z were on the island just a week before we arrived).  One of the pull factors for celebrities and royalty is the privacy that this island offers.  No paparazzi allowed and to in order for any pap get a snap they would need to get a boat and take pics from afar!

Mustique is a tiny private island covering only just 5.7km and is located in St Vincent and the Grenadines.  It takes approximately 25mins to drive around the entire island so this is not a place for major explorers or those that bore easily!  I flew from London to St Vincent and then took a tiny (rather bumpy) plane to Mustique.  On the way home I transferred in barbados.

Postcards From Morocco

walking in sofitel marrakech

Marrakech Musings….

My BFF (Coleen) and I were recently discussing going back to Morocco later this year for a re-visit as we visited Marrakech last year and had such a great time.  After a good half hour reminiscing over a Pinot Noir or two, I felt inspired me to write a post about our visit last year!

Our decision to visit Marrakech last August 2014 was very last minute.  All we knew was, we wanted to venture to pastures new and it had to be hot!  Once we decided upon Morocco, we were booked, e-tickets in hand with only 6 days before to shop, pack and head off.  Continue reading…

My Cape Town Experience ~ South Africa

cape-town-south-africa

Cape Town, South Africa is a dynamic and modern metropolis attracting people from all walks of life from all over the world.  From backpacking students to celebrities, it’s a cool and very diverse place.

It attracts most of its visitors during it’s summer season which spans from November to March.  During this period visitors enjoy the eleven hours of daily sunshine with an average temperature of 25-30 degrees Centigrade.  In between seasons are Spring: September/October and Autumn: April and May.  Winter months are June – August with temperatures between 7 and 20 Centigrade.

Cape Town is 11 hours away from UK.  Although with the time difference being just 2 hours ahead of GMT, it makes the long journey relatively easy in terms of jet lag.  If you catch a night flight, you will arrive early afternoon next day which is pretty cool as you can sleep on the plane and arrive in South Africa ready for the day ahead.
